Pray for the
Moran Family
The Morans are being sent by Grinnell Friends Church and with the support of Friends Church Midwest.
Living in Uncertainty
Grinnell Friends Church, in rural Iowa, recognized a need through their furniture ministry that there was no Spanish-speaking ministry within 40 minutes to serve the growing Latino population near them. They saw that their immigrant brothers and sisters are living in a time of great fear and uncertainty. The message of Jesus’ hope and peace is needed now more than ever. After some discernment, Grinnell Friends Church agreed that it was their call to begin something new to serve this people group in their backyard.
Meet The Morans
Carlos & Katy have answered this call to serve the Latino population, alongside Grinnell Friends Church.
Carlos grew up in Guatemala and has a long history of experience and work among Friends. He studied Pastoral Studies at Seminario Teologico Amigos Berea (Friends Theological Seminary Berea) in Chiquimula, Guatemala, and has pastored Friends Churches in both Guatemala and the U.S.
Katy grew up in Iowa Yearly Meeting (now Friends Church Midwest) and studied at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. She was involved in youth ministry for 25+ years both inside and outside the Friends Church and has a deep heart for leadership development in the Friends Church.
Carlos and Katy met at a pastors’ retreat in Indiana Yearly Meeting. They have been married since 2016 and share a son named Palmer, in addition to Carlos’ four adult children from his previous marriage.
Both Carlos and Katy have been involved in church planting for many years and know the joyful and sometimes difficult journey of following God’s multiplication plan for His kingdom.
